THE MARRIAGE GUIDE,
OB NATURAL HISTORY OV
GENERATION.
A private lastmctorfor Married People and those
uAeut to marry, both male and female, in everything
relating to the Anatomy aad Physiology of the Gen-
erative oystem, in both sexes, and the process of
Reproduction, Including a full description of every-
thing that is now known respecting the prevention
and production of offspring, the'cause of the differ-
eace in aex—Parental influence—Natural adaptation
—Physiology of Marriage, Ac., Ac.
Thia ia beyond comparison the moat extraordinary
work on Physiology ever publiahed. There ia noth-
ing whatever that married people can either rrf uire
ar out to know but what ia rally explained, and
many mattcra are introduced, of the moat impor-
tant and interesting character,to which no altusien
oven can be found in any other work in our Ian*
guage. All the us ditceveries, many of them never
before nude public are given la full, eapeciaily thoee
relating to conception aad sterility.
So married person, of either sex, should be with-
out this boob. It is utterly unlike any other ever
published, aad the matter it contains can bo found
nowhere else. It contains numerous Kngravings
aad eeleredPlntee designed especially for this work.
DR. ROLLICK'S PUBLICATIONS.
"We hate just read a new work called - TJee Jfcr
rta#s Guide," by Dr. F. IIolucx, the well known
author of the Origin or Life, and we are constrained
to admit that it is the most extraordinary book that
ever came under our notice. Thoroughly scientific
enoqgh for deeply read scholars, or for practical ex-
periaaentere, it is yet plain aad popular enough for
the must ordinary understanding. Nowhere else in
the English language can there be found such a
complete and practically useful compendium of
Physiological information, strictly adapted for the
aaa of married people, or of those intending to mar-
ry. All the new discoveries of Peucket, Bisekmf,
and others, are folly given, as well ae many others
by the aathof himself, never before made known.
The engravings are also excellent, as well aa curl-
oee. Ia (sot, taking It altogether, it is beyond all
queotlou (Ae Book spon there matters, and will
probably become ae popular in future, and aa uni-
versally referred to aa AristatIs hae formerly been.
One feature which peculiarly distinguishes this book
from all others of the kind, is the peculiar tone of
ssorolilg aad delieety which pervades it all through
aa I which makes it both proper and useful to be read
by all persons, of both sexes, who have attained the
ngeofpuberty. A very eminent clergyman inthoriseo
us to say that he deems it a duty to Introduce itpri-
vately among his Sock as the beet means he knowe
of preventing aad overcoming those hatefnl visas,
unfortunately so destructive to soul and body, which
are at the present time so fearfully prevalent.—Wed.

particular, and is the only work in the English lan-

WE, the subscribers, having witnessed the per-
formance and successful operation of 'Thomp-
son's Bagasse Burner or Furnace,9 on the plantation
of Mr. Gossett it Johnson, Parish of Jefferson.—
Said Burners, or Furnace, are composed of a series
of burning chambers, which are applied to two Cyl-
inder Boilers, 3(1 feet long, 28 inch diameter, which
furnishes ample steam to run their engine with little
overhal the Bagasse, green from the mill, without the
aid of wood or the use of flowors, generating a much
greater heat than we have ever seen from Bagasse
by any procees. the flues and underneath the boiler
being a continual white heat, consuming all smoke
and gasses as well as the Bagasse, leaving little or no
ashes or cinders, and we are of opinion that with
sufficient boiler surfase to consume all the Bagasse,
sufficient steam can be generated not only to run the
engine but do much, if not all the clarification and
evaporation of the cane juice; aud we are further
of opiniou that the prtnciple of this furnace is cor-
rect and practicable, forming a natural combustion,
and being a combination of air-tight and draught,
and unlike the blower system, which is forced and
artificial: •

The medical faculty in this country, as well as
throughout h England and France, have universaly
expressed t eir approbation of this Curative Truss,
while they pronounce it the only one that is con-
structed in accordance with the principles of Burge-
iy. As it difTera in effect, so it differs from all
others* It is light, elastic, and comfortable to wear,
closes completely the hernial ring, and perfectly ra-
ti! n the rupture under aiy exercise. But here lei
it be observed thst it is not alone ip the construction
of the Truss that the unfortuna:e must look equally
*s much to a co ^ ect application by a person familiar
wite the anatomy of tbe body, for the proper adapta*
tion of a Truss, so that good will result from it, as
Dr- Lawrence, the celebrated English writer on Her-
nia. aMy argues, it is one of the nicest operations in
mechanical surgery.
The KUI'TURK REMEDY is an external applica-
tion, which is taken up by absorption, facilitat:ng
and adding permanency to the cure. Its use is a cer-
tain preventive when there is a weakness in the low*

1st. They are not poisonous Sleeping apart-
ments, recently painted, may be occupied with im-
punity, aad painters using these paints are neteab-
ject to tbe distressing maladies arising from the use
of lead
3d. Their beauty and durability, line, an In-
side work, becomes much harder than any other
paints, and is not eaeily soiled ; ie whiter than puro
white lead, and as it retains its whiteaees and bril-
liancy unaffected by bilge water, coal, or sulphurous
gases, it is unrivalled as a paint for ships and steam-
boats. For outside use, exposed to weather or water.
Zinc Paints will retain their color and preserving
qualities long after otber paints are destroyed.
3d. Tho White Zinc Paints will cover "(eqnal
weights) about two thirds more surface thaa puro
laed—this, in connection with their greater durabil-
ity, makes ia the long run the eoet of painting with
Zinc less than hair the eost of lead.
Brown and Rrewn Stone Color Zine Paints, which
are sold at low prices, ara well adapted for painting
roofs, out-buildings, and all metallic surfaces, par-
ticularly iron, which they effectually protect from
rusting, exposed to either heat er weather. These

It has been reserved to this distinguished anther-
ess to achieve whnt may, under the eircumstahces,
bo regarded as the most brilliant success ever ob-
tained by an American writer ef fiction. "RUTH
HALL," her first continuous s'.ory, though deriving
no Inetrest or popularity from connection with any of
those vexed questions which agitate the public mind,
has, in the two months since its first appearance,
reached a greatly larger sale than any other Ameri-
can work of fiction whatever within t^e same period'
This extraordinary fact is, of itself, abundant evi-
dence of the absorbing interestand graphic power of
thia remarkable work. We have in our possession
several hundred reviews of "RUTH HALL," which
have already appealed in the principal newspapers
and periodicals- Nearly all of theae pronounce It
emphatically a work of genius, many predicting for
It the largest sale of any American book, and devot-
