Here TV will give festival attendees the opportunity to
meet Charlie David and Tracy Scoggins, stars of the net-
work's original series "Dante's Cove."
Pride Parade and the largest annual GLBT event
in the Southwest. With over 1,000 participants
and over 150,000 attendees, there are plenty of
spectacles both in the street and in the crowd.
"Being at the parade is such a rush," Pride
Houston Parade Committee Chair Jason Ayala
said. "In the street are all of the beautiful floats,
costumes and performances, but the parade route
is also a mile packed with the most amazing and
diverse crowd on the sidewalk.''
Pride Houston has surprised parade-goers for
several years with a major display at the corner
of Montrose and Westheimer, such as the giant
disco ball that hung over the intersection for sev-
eral years and the chandelier that appeared there
for the last three years. Look for a brand-new
surprise over the intersection to delight the
crowds at this year's parade.
Also new this year will be several contingents
of performers throughout the parade, sponsored
by Pride Houston, including choreographed drag
queens, flaggers and dancers.
Parking in the Montrose area is limited and
parade attendees are encouraged to arrive early
and be prepared for the heat and humidity with
cool, comfortable clothing and plenty of water.
While the Pride Parade and Festival are the
most visible events during Houston's annual
Pride celebration, many community organiza-
tions participated by sponsoring a number of cul-
tural, educational, social and sporting events
throughout the month.

Tyler clinic
loses funding
Funding cuts could close an East Texas clinic.
The HIV/AIDS clinic in Tyler is losing almost
half of its funding. The clinic provides early
access to help manage medical care for more
than 100 East Texas patients with HIV or AIDS.
"Without the clinic there is no managed care
even though the patients will take medication
there will not be anyone to manage the side
affects and make adjustments. People decline
very fast, the patient decline very fast without
managed care," says Bob Westbrook board
chairman of the Northeast Texas Public District.
Westbrook says the health district will be
looking to state, federal or private donations to
keep the clinic open.
