Spur,Texas. Thur.Feb.19 1919.
The worstlong-dfawn-out sand-storm that ever visited
this country, according to old-timers,came last Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday. I was glad enough to be in the Inn
with all its Gibralta-like strength and solidity;but even
there the sand penetrated and covered everything in the
rolm.
This last visit to Spur has proven to be a great deal
more busy than I had counted on,and I have stayed here
at least two days longer than I had planned. There are
so many homes in which an individual farewell visit must
be paid that it just took time
some of them out a good
ways in the country.
The farewell sermon last Sunday night was well attended
by all denominations, and I shall long remember the night.
Perhaps I have made a few friends here after all
real
FRIENDS that deserve that name.
Last night the Ladies'Aid gave me a "feed"
an oyster
supper, which was grand. They had quite a number there not
of the Ladies' Aidand we enjoyed a feast of music as well
as oysters.
Have been having that gap in my teeth bridged this week
and the dentist has been having some trouble getting the im
pression for it. It is a good thing I have stayed as long
as I have this week for he is yet to put the finishing
touches on the job.
I shall leave today for Stamford for my last Sunday
there;and then I shall be on my way to Throckmorton next
week just as soon as I can get my things packed for moving.
