I would like to acknowledge and thank those individuals who took time out for interviews and to
furnish me with their personal experiences at Camp Wolters.
Oral Memoirs: Mr. C.W. Griffith, Jr., Mr. George Alton Reedy, and Mr. James C. Stehling.
Mrs. Mary Creighton for the outstanding articles she published on "Old Camp Wolters".
Many thanks to the several writers for the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Mineral Wells Index, and
the Weatherford Democrat from which I cross-referenced information about the Camp Wolters
Prisoner of War Camp articles that have been published by them.
The book published by Mr. Richard P. Walker, "Lone Star and the Swastika-Prisoners of War in
Texas" was an excellent reference.

Item of Interest:
One of the murals painted by the prisoners on the wall of the large mess hall,
where a German frauleins bigger than life were painted. This same mess hall came in for it's share
of attention when a homemade whiskey still was accidentally discovered by some of the workman
who had to do some repair work in the mess hall attic and discovered the still. The prisoners used
some of the sugar and yeast, plus other items for the necessary ingredients which were part of
their daily issue rations. This was one whiskey still that made the front page of the nearby
metropolitan newspapers as well as Mineral Wells Index.
