Jefferson County Inventory, Volume I -
Preface.
p. vii Beginning with the fourth sentence in paragraph three the
Preface should read:
Offices in Jefferson County inventoried for Volume I
were those of County Clerk R. L. Barnes, formerly Fred G. Hill; County
Engineer Robert Stroder, formerly Jack Morton; and Veterans Service
Officer Tom Lawrence.
The dedicated citizens who conducted this Project wish
to extend their appreciation to these Jefferson County Officials and
their staffs for their kindness, patience, and helpfulness during the
three years the County Inventory Project was active. A debt of
gratitude for their aid and encouragement is also due the current
county commissioners Norman J. Troy, James A. Smith, Jr., Dave Smith,
Jr., and Rolfe Christopher as well as the late Ted R. Walker and his
wife, Mrs. Loretta Walker who completed his term.
The Annual Conference of the Texas Historical Commission
was held on April 21, 1979, at Kerrville, Texas. The Jefferson
County Historical Commission was awarded the Distinguished Service
Award, largely due to the work on the Inventory Project.
