ACADEMIC POLICIES
ACADEMIC POLICIES AND GENERAL REGULATIONS
COLLEGE BULLETIN
The College BULLETIN, published each year
is, in effect an agreement between the
student and the College. It contains
vital information concerning academic
requirements, financial charges, dead-
lines, and other regulations of McMurry.
The student is responsible to be familiar
with all of this information.
CLASS ATTENDANCE
If absences are necessary the student
should contact the professor. If
professors cannot be located the Student
Services Office will be happy to assist.
Policies within the College on absences
vary. Students should find out each
individual professor's policy at the
beginning of the course. Repeated
absences can lead to removal from a
class.
ADDING OR DROPPING COURSES
Pick up add or drop slips from the
Registrar's office. No course is
officially added or dropped until the
student has obtained all required
signatures on the proper form and re-
turned that form to the Registrar's
Office. See latest Bulletin for details.
WITHDRAWAL FROM COLLEGE
Official withdrawal is accomplished by
reporting to the Business Office to
obtain a withdrawal form. The signatures
of the Vice President for Student
Services, Director of Financial Aid,
Business Office and finally the
Registrar's Office are needed to complete
the withdrawal form. Unless you offi-
cially withdraw, the College has no
choice except to give you an "F" in every
course in which you were enrolled.PLACEMENT SERVICE
McMurry College provides free placement
services, located in the Placement
Office, to assist students in obtaining
career employment. Information and
literature on employment opportunities
are available on a self-service basis.
Representatives of business, industry,
and education visit the campus regularly
for interviews with graduating seniors
and students who are availble for
employment.
All seniors are urged to file their
placement forms early in the year in
order that there may be ample time to
collect all the necessary data. Regis-
tration with the Placement Service is a
convenience both to the students and to
employers. By keeping their file up-to-
date graduates may use the service
throughout their career.A listing of available part-time and
full-time jobs is maintained in the
Placement Office (Old Main). These are
the result of employers who write or call
the College seeking persons to work.
CORRECT ADDRESS
Each student enrolled in McMurry College
is required to keep the following offices
informed of his/her current mailing
address: The Registrar, Student Services
and Business Office.
A student who changes his/her address or
parent's address after he/she has regis-
tered must report the new address on a
change of address form available in the
Registrar 's office or the Business
Office.
A female student who gets married should
follow the above outlined procedure for
changing her name on all school docu-
ments.
STUDENT COMMUNICATIONS
On some occasions it will be necessary
for a faculty member, counselor, or
administrative official to contact you as
an individual student. In such instances
a letter sent to the address filed in the
Registrar's Office will be considered
official and as sufficient notice. It is
the responsibility of the student to keep
his current address on file in order to
receive official notices.
STANDARDS OF DRESS, SMOKING
Neatness and appropriateness of dress are
important at all times. McMurry students
are given credit for the maturity to
decide what to wear and how to wear it.
Just dress for the occasion and respect
the privilege.
Students should not leave or return to
the dorms in swimsuits without some type
of coverup.
Smoking, dipping or chewing tobacco is
not allowed in the classrooms, Radford
Auditorium, cafeteria, some areas of the
Campus Center, or library. Elsewhere,
the decision to smoke is up to you!I I II
