Ruth Glasgow of Killeen acting director of the Killeen USO and
Sgt. James A. Hoelldorfer son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoelldorfer
of Johnston R. I. will be married. No date has been set for the
wedding. Miss Glasgow is a student at Mary Hardin-Baylor college.
Sgt. Hoelldorfer formerly employed in Washington D. C. is
currently assigned to headquarters First Armored division.

ONE-ACT PLAY TRYOUTS
During the past week tryouts
were held for parts in the one-act
play "Andante" which will be giv
en in the District Interscholastic
Contest in Belton March 28.
"Andante" is the story of a noted

Club
A salad luncheon and style show
was featured at yesterday's meet
ing of the Better Half Club.
Spring fashions were presented
by Lea's Dress Shop of Copperas
Cove in the one of the first of this
season's style shows.
Decorations and table arrange
ments for the meeting were done
by the club members.
Officers' Wives
Club
The April Luncheon for the Fort
Hood Officers' Wives Club will be
held at the Officers Mess.
Mrs. H. R. Siemers Program
Chairman announced a Puppet
Show will be presented by Doris
Goodi'ich Jones Waco Texas
better known as the "Lone Puppe
teer."
Hostesses for this Luncheon will
be the Dental Wives of the Post.
Lunch Meeting Planned
By Post Officers Wives
The 4005th Officers Wives will
hold a luncheon at 12:45 p.m. Wed
nesday March 11 at the Officers
Open Mess.
Mrs. J. E. Bartlett and Mrs.
George C. Coburn will be the act
ing hostesses.
Wives living on the Post may
make reservations by calling Mrs.
Stephen H. Condict 3323. Wives
living off the Post call Mrs. Denny
Killeen 1-0634. Reservations must
be made by noon Tuesday March
10.

Teachers Resign
Three high school teachers—Mrs.
Sue Kribbs Mrs. O. A. Barnes and
Gordon Adams resigned last Fri
day.
Mrs. Kribs whose husband is
being sent overseas will return to
her home in Comanche. Mr. Barnes
has accepted a position as assistant
manager for Hoover Brothers in
Temple. Mr. Adams has purchased
the Chanslor and Young Hardware
Store in Killeen.
Cost of Education
According to the Texas State
Teachers Association the cost per
classroom hour for each student in
the 1951-52 school year was 21c
less than the hourly rate charged
by baby-sitters.
Hospital Wives
Club
The salad-casserole fun party
held recently was a huge success.
The tables were decorated with a
clever arrangement of red white
and blue and the favorite receipes
on display made a very favorable
choice.
Honored guests were Mrs. Bruce
C. Clarke Mrs. Alfred Hopkins
Mrs. Crane and Mrs. Herbst.
Following the luncheon a cash
prize game was played.
The next monthly meeting will
be held March 25 at 1:00 p. m. All
ladies are asked to make and wear
their hats to the party. Prizes will
be awarded to the most original
and the most comical hats._

Girl Scout News
On March 12 1912 the first Girl
Guide Company was organized in
Savannah Ga. by Miss Juliette
Lowe. The name was changcd to
Girl Scouts the following year. This
year over a million girls will cclc-
brate the 41st birthday of Giri
Scouting in the United Slates.
Final plans for the Fort Hood
celebration of the birthday are now
being made. On Friday March 13
at 7:00 p. m. neaiiy 200 Brownies
and Girl Scouts will have their
mothers as their guests at a cover
ed dish supper to be held at Golf
Club House No. 2.
Last week in Troop 9 Elizabeth
Clarke was elected patrol leader
for Patrol 1 and Lynn Jones for
Patrol 2.
A Court of Honor was held last
Friday at the Scout House and
Wanda Burlson was selected to be
Mistress of Ceremonies for the
birthday party.
Due to bad weather Troop 13
cancelled their hike but held their
cook-out in the Scout House.
Brownies Donna and Martha
Hughes and their mother who has
been a faithful assistant in Troop
10 at Kaybee Heights are moving
to Brownwood and will be missed
by all.
Troop 6 enjoyed an interesting
talk by Mrs. Gertrude Rein of
Germany. A ceremony to award
