Muldoon Elder Paintings
On Exhibition At Hood
An exhibition of paintings by
PFC Muldoon Elder of the 51st
Infantry is currently on display
at the Arts and Crafts Center
on Headquarters Avenue.
The exhibit will run through
March.
The Arts and Crafts Center is
open Monday through Friday
from 6 until 10 p.m. Saturdays
from 1 until 10 p.m. and on
Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Also this month Elder will
have an exhibit at the. Waco
Civic Theater during the produc
tion of the suspense drama "Mo-
nique."
The paintings will be on exhibit
March 11 12 18 19 25 and 26.
The exhibit will range from
"objective impressionism" to "ab
stract expressionism."
Elder said his works have been

and reconnaissance missions during the play of Big Thrust. The exercise largest of its kind dur-
ing Fiscal Year 1960 will involve over 6000 soldiers most of them from the 1st Armored Divi
sion (CCA) Armored spearhead of the Strategic Army Corps.

Art the Downey Art Museum and
the Helland Gallery.
In Texas he has had a two-
man show at the Black Tulip
Gallery in Dallas and his works
have been displayed at the Dal
las County Museum of Art.
His paintings are now on dis
play at a group show at the
Black Tulip Gallery and also at
the Gallery of Wonderful Things
in Fort Worth. He will hold a
one-man show in Fort Worth in
April.
Other exhibits have been in
New York Florida Massachus
etts and his works are represent
ed in private collections as far
as Paris.
In April Elder will hold an
exhibit at the Arts and Crafts
Center consisting of the works
produced by students in his art
classes.
Classes are held every Monday
from 7 until 10 p.m. and Thurs
days from 1 until 4 p.m. An
other class for beginners is held
Tuesdays from 7 until 10 p.m.
Persons wishing to enroll in the
art classes may obtain details
from Mr. Sid Jeffiries at the
Arts and Craft Center Building 3.

To Give Talk
At PWC Meet
Chaplain (Lt.) Delbert Grem-
mels will relate his experiences
in Taiwan Formosa at the meet
ing of Fort Hood's Protestant
Women of the Chapel at 10:30
a.m. March 11 in the Religious
Education Center.
The talk will be illustrated with
slides.
It has been requested that all
persons planning to attend the
meeting bring covered dishes to
contribute to the lunch.
Free nursery facilities will be
available.

Awarded Cert
For Suggestion
Mr. Leon C. Shults of Killeen
was presented a suggestion cer
tificate at Killeen Base last week
for participating in the Base in
centive awards program.
The certificate was signed by
Col. L. Dow Adams commander
and was presented by Capt. Al
bert E. Levulis Base Engineer.
Mr. Shults suggested that a
telephone be installed near the
entrance to Killeen Base for the
convenience of persons visiting
the Base.
Mr. Shults a building and
grounds supervisor began his em
ployment at Killeen Base in 1950
He was formerly employed by
the Reynolds Electric Company of
El Paso. He is affiliated with
Lodge. 1125 AF & AM in Killeen.
He resides with his wife Vlasta
and two children Stephen and
Cherre in Killeen.

For the second consecutive
month PFC James M. Bellaire
U.S. Army Atomic Weapons De
tachment A was selected as
"Soldier of the Month" at Kil
leen Base.
For winning the award the 19
year-old native of East Aurora
N. Y. was presented a certificate
by Lt. Col. Cecil H. Cates Jr.
Director of Logistics Division
Pvt. Bellaire entered the Army
in September of 1958 and took
basic training at Fort Benning
Ga. He took advanced training in
electronics at the U.S. Army Sig
nal School Fort Monmouth N. J.
and Sandia Base New Mexico. He
was assigned to Killeen Base in
July 1959.
While at Killeen Army Base
the young soldier has attended
the non-commissioned officers
course at Fort Hood and is cur
rently participating in the off-duty
at on am by a in
courses from Mary-Hardin Bay
lor College in Belton. He is also
taking the Army pre-commission-
ed course and has applied for
Officer Candidate School.

der. He was cited for his meritorious service as Battalion Supply
Officer and Battalion S-4 of the 319th from May of 1956 until
February of 1960. The presentation was made at last week's
Commanders' Conference.
