The Annual Division Of
ficer's Christmas Party was
held last Friday at the Fort
Hood Officer's Open Mess.
The formal party included
cocktails from 6:00 p.m. until
7:15 p.m. in the Continental
Orient Barcelona and Oc
cident Rooms.
Following a dinner of roast
sirloin of beef the officers
and ladies of the division
were wished a happy holiday
by the Division Commander
Maj. Gen. Robert L. Fair.
The evenings program in
cluded Christmas selections
sung by the 2nd Armd. Div.
Chorale and dancing to the
music of the 2d Armd. Div.
Band.

A festive mood to
welcome the Christmas
holidays was created for the
2nd Bn. 50th Inf. (Mech)
Wives Friendship Social at a
Christmas Dinner Dance held
recently at the Mini-Dome. It
also served as a hail and
farewell for the enlisted per
sonnel.

the 1974 Fort Hood Military
Wife of the Year on Monday
by a panel of 12 judges. Mrs.
E. H. Shemwell chairman of
Cmd. Sgt. Maj. welcomed
and acknowledged all newly
arrived personnel and presen
ted a farewell gift from
senior NCOs to 1st Sgt. and
Mrs. Dimitrio Gonzales who
will depart to Korea.
Special guests were Cmd.
Sgt. Maj. and Mrs. Richard
Divine III Corps and Ft.
Hood Cmd. Sgt. Maj.
On Dec. 12 the wives had
their morning social at the
Hideaway Club. Mrs. James
S.V. Edgar wife of the bat
talion commander welcomed
all the ladies and guests and
introduced special guest
speaker Father McNamara.
Other guests were Mrs. Edith
Fenderbosch and Mrs. Joan
Onate.
Hostesses of the coffee
were: Mrs. Harry Moore
Mrs. Richard Bohn and Mrs.
J.S.V. Edgar.
January morning social
will be held in Mrs. Edgar's
home and the hostesses will
be the "A" Co. wives.
Dec. 17 the battalion held
the Children's Christmas
Party at their Dining
Facility. Coke and cookies
were served to all and then
Santa Claus (alias Master
Sgt. Robert Newton) came to
the panel of judges read a
letter from Mrs. Elizabeth
Bray declining her
nomination as the '74
Military Wife of the Year for
personal reasons.
In addition to representing
Fort Hood in competition at
the U.S. Army Forces Com-

displays the certificate of appreciation and engraved
silver serving tray she received upon her retirement
as instructor at the III Corps Troop Schools.
Ft Hood lady retires
A retirement dinner was
given in honor of Mrs. Earl
H. Killebrew by employees of
the Army Education Center
December 14 at the
Hideaway Club at Ft. Hood.
The dinner followed the
graduation of the III Corps
Troop Schools Radio Teletype
(RATT) Operators course.
She was presented a letter
of appreciation by Maj.
Rufus Hamilton school com
mander in behalf of the
Troop Schools. Maj. Hamilton
also presented her with a cer
tificate from the RATT
course instructors. She also
received an engraved silver
serving tray from the instruc
tors.

HARKER HEIGHTS
Mrs. Killebrew has been
with the Army Education
Center in the capacity of an
instructor since 1949. In 1952
she began teaching at the
NCO Academy while teaching
at night at the Army
Education Center.
She began working at Ft.
Hood in 1943 at the Signal
Center Communications
where she worked until 1946.
The Killebrews plan to
travel and rest now that she
has retired.

children. Afterwards he gave
all the children their gift and
a sack of fruit and nuts.
Two large pinatas made by
Mrs. Anatacio Gomez wife of
the "A" Co. 1st Sgt. were
hung out on a tree. The
children took turns hitting the
Santa Claus and 4-ft. Christ
mas tree pinatas till the
pinatas finally burst with
candy. A mad scramble for
the goodies followed and
everyone went home after a
very festive afternoon.
2nd Bn. 50th INF. (MECH)
The home of 1st Lt. and
Mrs. R.L. Minter was the
place for the December wine
and cheese get together party
of the 2nd Bn. 50th Inf.
(Mech).
During the party a short
business meeting was conduc
ted for the ladies. Mrs.
James S.V. Edgar wife of
the battalion commander
presented farewell gifts to
Mrs. Palmer F. Smith and
Mrs. Talmage Varnado and
thanked them for their sup
port and interest in the bat
talion.

presented farewell plaques to
mand Ft. McPherson Ga.
as the '74 Army Wife of the
Year Mrs. Cardillo will be
scheduled for speaking
engagements in the com
munities surrounding Fort
Hood and for appearances at
other functions representing
Fort Hood.

General Dentistry Residency

MEDDAC Health Service
Command at Fort Hood was
chosen as alternate represen
tative of the Fort Hood 1974
Military Wife of the Year. In
the event Mrs. Cardillo can
not fill a commitment to
represent Fort Hood at
various functions Mrs.
Alexander will be Fort
Hood's representative.
Throughout Mrs. Cardillo's
career as a military wife she
has been active in local
PTA's the National Wildlife
Federation Sacred Heart
Guilds Commissary Advisory
Council Officers Wives Club
the Red Cross and other civic
groups.
Mrs. Alexander has been
active in the Boy Scouts
Brownies Red Cross PTA
ecology and church activities.
She has been active in the
Youth Environment Suppor
ters (YES) sponsored by the
American Lung Association
of Texas.

gladly "Do my Thing" if I
could just figure out what it

German punch cookies tor-
tes and stollen were served.
Gifts were exchanged and the
door prize was won by Mrs.
Donald Kirby. Mrs. William
Lewis wife of the DISCOM
commander presided over
the business meeting.
A welcome was extended to
Mrs. Terry Owens and
farewell bid to Mrs. Russel
McConnell. The wives presen
ted Mrs. McConnell with a
charm.

meeting and holiday plans
were discussed. The wives
have been busy with bake
sales one of which was held
to help raise money for the
V.A. Hospital in Temple.
Plans were made for a
Christmas Party for all the
children in the battalion a
caroling party for the officers
and wives was planned.
Farewells were then said to
Mrs. Thomas E. Cross
man
who were presented with an
engraved silver tray.
Hostesses for the January
coffee will be Mrs. George
Tom and Mrs. Robert
Graebener.
1st BN. 14th FA
Officers's wives of the 1st
Bn. 14th FA met for the
Christmas coffee at the home
of Mrs. Michael Proctor in
Wainwright Heights. Co-
hostess $.or the coffee was
Mrs. Ted Lorenz.
Mrs. C.C. Nock wife of the
battalion commander con
ducted the short business
meeting. Mrs. Paula Cantwell
was welcomed as a newlywed
member of the group. A
thank you note was read for
the contribution to the
veterans hospital Christmas
project.
Spiced tea and coffee were
served to the ten ladies
present.

hostesses were Mrs. Lynn
Andrews and Mrs. Loraine
Ross.
After a buffet luncheon a
short business meeting was
held by Mrs. Shetler at which

Witt. A gift exchanged among
the ladies brought forth the
Christmas spirit.

At the termination of the
