Astronomy Club Enjoys Finest Year
1)
ASTRONOMY CLUB MEMBERS: STANDING: Tommy Lucas, Mike Pettit, Kim Stelly Ray Couch, David Robichaux, Wiley Barner, Beth Ste
ward, Terri Dubose, Bob Black, Walter Higgs, Brian Blackwood. Ernest Drake, Eddie Tritico, Chris Durso, and David Orr. SITTING: Eddie
Gorin, Brenda Patino, Mike Preston, Pat Higgs, and Val Fey.ASTRONOMY CLUB HAS en-
joyed its most active year.
Marked by a large membership of
interested students, the club has
held a meeting every second
Tuesday to discuss such varying
topics as laser communications,
time, and stellar evolution. While
slightly ironical, the club has spent
very few sessions observing the
heavens because of Port Arthur's
cloudy overhead. The club has,
however, observed a simulated
view of the starry sky on its field
trip to the Burke-Baker Planetar-
ium in Houston. In the meantime,
some of the members constructed
a reflecting telescope in anticipa-
tion of focusing more on the sub-
ject.PICTURED ABOVE ARE Mr. Bi I Tolar, sponsor: Chris Durso
