The term "chauffeur is ef4ned in paragraph (g) of Sec-
tion 1 of Article 668a-;Revise CiS1 Statutes (as amended Acts
...1937, 45th Leg., p. 752, . 369 ar 1-A) as follows:
"(g) au eu person ho operates a motor
vehic e fr any rp e, whole or part time, as
an emp oye serva t, ent, or independent con-
tractor, wh her paid salary or commission; and
ry per n o erdes a motor vehicle while such
vehil e is ~ oifo^r hire or lease."
/Se to4 2of te4ame Article requires that all chauffeurss
be 1 e ed, it eg worded as follows:
On and aftr April 1, 1936, no person except those
er resly ,exempt under this Act, shall drive any motor
rveh ie pon a highway in this State unless such per-
san upon application has been licensed as an operator
or cuffeur by the department under the provisions
of this Act.
Section 35 sets out those persons who are exempt from
