Johnson and Joo Ryan. '
Captain Ben Ransome andjiis daughter Polly (Edith John-
son) lives on the outskirts of. Los Angeles. Years before bis-
rather rounded the Horn on the Merchantman Lion. The
crew mutinied and he alone reached shore on the Gulf o'
Mexico. He found a treasure where he landed and buried it
there marking the latitude and longitude on a flag.
Years later he led an expedition in search of the treasure.
It was attacked by bandits and Ransome divided the flag in
six-pieces giving each one. Each piece told nothing together
they located the treasure.
- Ben Ransome treasured his bit of flag. For all he knew
the her holders had died. The day this story opens he was
looking at the flag when he was attacked by "Scarface" (Joe
Ryan) Bender one of the expedition who was bent on getting
all the six-pieces. "
Bender is beating Ransome to death when Dick Van Brunt
engaged to marry Polly rushes In. Bender shoots him and
demands that Polly surrender her father's flag or be killed
She refuses and the outlaw springs on her.
