Havana July 3. Five alleged Ne-
gro "voodoo worshipers" held in San
Sorortno prison at Matanzos n a
charge of complicity li tho murder
of a little girl were shot and killed
tonight by soldiers when they at-
tempted to escape.
They were boing removed from
prison to a place of greater safety
after a mob had attempted to storm
the castle for the purpose of lynching-
the prisoners.
Two members of the mob were
killed and eleven injured when the
soldiers fired on the would-be lynch-
ers a couple of hours earlier.
