The HkralI" desirous of informing iU
roadcra on matters connected with the ap-
proaching Congressional convention of tho
Greenback party of this district ono of its
reporters yoatjrday meeting ;Mr. H. A.
Sponcor a representative man of that party
asked for his views whion are given in his
own language as follows :
My attontion has been called to the fact
that the Greenback lxbor party of this Con-
gressional district will hold a convention at
Port Worth May 27th for the purpose tf
electing delegates to represent the district at
Chicago June Oth and also if deemed expe-
dient by the convention to place a candidate
in the field for Congros-ional honors.
In view of tho possibility of our district
convention deciding to make a Congressional
nomination at Fort Worth. I take the liberty
n an humble member of the partv to tnako
a few suggestions for the consideration of
the clubs and the great body of active mem-
bara of our party in this Third Congressional
district. I Celiove that in every county there
a-e worthy patriotic enlightened citir.ens
who are In everv way eligiblo to represent
our people in Congress and that the name
of at least one such man from each county
ahould be prosentcd and considered by the
Congressional convention and the
respective delegations from tho cpun"
lias presenting the names of candidates
ahould honor their home cboiae on the first
ballot with a majority vote. Of fourse the
names of none should bo brought before the
coi vention who are not oledired to abido by
iU final decision and to faithfully aupport
its nominee in the congressional race. It is
to bo hotted that the nairn-a of at least forty-
one candidate will be presented at the Fort
Worth convention bv deWstca from the re
spective counties of this district and tbat the
merit! of all be carefully and candidly
vreiehed bv the convention before flnallv se
lecting ono good man from the maay. It is
true that such aivstesn of selection by can
vetitions would reguir more lime than under
me usual routine or work esiaoiisnea or in
customs and precedent of such bodie for

tho additional time and labor expended will
bo well rewarded. Why ibouU not each
