ACU intramural sports is a great way to get involved with activities on
campus, especially for new students. Currently, about 3,000 students
participate in the department with numbers increasing annually. We
offer a championship league for the more competitive athlete, as well
as a recreational league if you prefer a more fun atmosphere. In the
fall, ACU intramural sports offers 3-2 softball, tennis, flag football,
racquetball, 3-on-3 basketball, and the favorite, waterball. In the
spring, you can look forward to 5-on-5 basketball, softball, indoor
soccer, outdoor soccer, 5-on-5 flag football, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee
and team bowling. There also are special event sports that are offered
as weekend tournaments which include dodgeball and paintball. The
modern day program has sent several teams to national tournaments,
each proving ACU's impressive athleticism versus programs from much
larger universities.
There are also opportunities for employment through the Intramural
Sports Office. We hire student workers, officials, and we employ ACU
students to officiate and coach for the Abilene Youth Basketball
Association as well as officiate for the Abilene Independent School
District basketball games.
Get involved with ACU intramural sports and be a part of one of the
most exciting traditions ACU has to offer.
Each participant is financially responsible for care of personal
injury, therefore, the Intramural Sports Office and Abilene Christian
University urges all participants to either purchase student insurance
offered by the school or have coverage by a private policy. The
Intramural Sports Office and Abilene Christian University will not
be held responsible for accidents. You play at your own risk.
