THE shortcake procession begins, of
course, with strawberries. But
modem housewives serve a series of
shorteakes all ayrpmer as the luscious
fruits and berries come into iftarket.
Which IS it to be—a cake or a short
biscuit? Tactful housewives whose
families are divided on this point will
keep recipes for both kinds on hand.
A cherry shortcake is a gift from
the gods. If largo, sweet cherries are
used they may be sugared and heated
to boiling or simply sugared and
used fresh. . .
Hero-Is a quickly mixed cake short-
