When you buy an item or product
from a business at a store or through a
mail order there is always the possibil-
ity of breakage malfunction or non-
arrival of the product. The 5-CITY Con-
sumer Affairs Office recommends the
following guidelines for resolving the
problem.
KEEP THE RECEIPT. Whether you
pay with cash check money order or
some other method retain a record of
payment. They 5-CITY office recom-
ends keeping the receipt for a year
after payment is complete or certainly
at least through the warranty period
whichever is longer.
Contact the company or manufactur-
er preferably in writing to better pro-
tect your legal rights. If your cancelled
check has been returned inclose a
copy front and back. Keep a copy of the
letter for your files. Send the letter certi-
fied mail return receipt requested.
