MPs assign cGrujf role
cGruff the nationally recognized crime prevention figure is coming
to the Fort Hood-Killeen area for one week beginning May 17 to urge
Soldiers and their families to “take a bite out of crime.”
Dressed as a hound dog in a trench coat and accompanied by Officer
Friendly the police officer from Louisiana ill teach school children
civic groups and soldiers how they can assist law enforcement officers
in preventing crime and catching criminals.
An expert in crime prevention cG ruff ill teach MPs here how to
organize and conduct effective programs for all age groups.
A fter he is gone Fort Hood ill have its own cG ruff and Officer
Friendly. Two MPs have been assigned to the crime prevention section
to play the parts and ill continue to instigate new programs working
closely with each individual housing area.
Meanwhile the original cG ruff ill go to Washington D.C. July 1
where President Reagan ill formally recognize him as the official
national symbol of crime prevention.
