P's AND Q's"
iVo. 1 — Program Notebook — In this handy pro-
gram aid which your Council provides, you have
the first of the "Three Assistants." In its opening
pages you will find a complete outline of the best
method of Troop programming, a plan used by
thousands of good Troops. Ample space for meet-
ing and hike plans, and a wealth of suggestions,
make this an essential to good planning.
No. 2 — scouting — Each month you will receive
Scouting, and once you have planned the high-
lights of your year's program, you will find here
an up-to-the-minute source of Scouting skills,
games, ceremonies, and theme material to help you
plan a rich and varied program for the following
month. Scouting emphasizes the leader's method,
"how to teach," and keeps you posted on current
Scout news. Each month, as you read it, you will
know that America's best Scoutmasters will be
using this material. Join them, and give your own
boys a treat!
No. 3 — boys' life — Designed to give your
Scouts "character through reading," Boys' Life
is also a source of detailed Scouting skills and
photo features which provide you and your boys
with extra ideas of things to do. In Boys' Life also,
the program material is timed to reach you a month
in advance. This allows time for planning and prac-
tice. Using Boys' Life adds America's best campers
and Scouting experts to your staff, enriches your
program. Regularly priced at $3.00 a year, our Scout
Magazine is available through your Local Council
at $2.00 for single members, and $1.50 on the Con-
cession Rate. Ask about it, for Boys' Life is a
"must" in your plan for good Scouting!
You'll Say All THREE Work for Me!"
Pictured above, you will find the simple plan at
work. You will see how your annual "highlights"
listed in your Notebook and Chart are supported by
Scouting and Boys' Life.
An easy way to plan for October, for instance, is
to decide what your monthly big event will be.
Then, in your weekly meetings, offer a program
which builds up to that event and trains Scouts as it
goes. Instead of hit-or-miss, you move forward each
month, learning Scouting skills as you go!
While no two Troops are exactly alike, you will
find that here is a simple plan which can be adapted
to suit the needs of your boys, and one which will
make your own leadership more effective.
The time to start? This fall, right now . . .
TODAY! Within these two pages lies a method
which can carry your Troop to new heights of
success and adventure. Try it, and see for yourself.
It will work for you!
