EAGLE
SCOUT
SERVICE
PROJECT
The band concert and reception for
members of Laryngectomee Clubs,
planned and carried out by Donald
David of Troop 20, Montville, Conn.,
was his way of fulfilling the service re-
quirement for Eagle rank.
The young man became interested in
laryngectomees when he read an article
about them and decided to learn more.
After attending a meeting of the local
chapter of the club, he began thinking
of a way to help and decided on a con-
cert, hoping that the unusual program
might attract out-of-state chapters and
members to visit the Montville chapter.
It did. More than 200 persons from
Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massa-
chusetts attended.
The would-be Eagle arranged for the
use of the school auditorium, secured
the assistance of the school's music di-
rector, recruited fellow students' par-
ticipation, and planned all details, in-
cluding the buffet after the concert.
Tickets were complimentary and re-
freshments were donated by civic-
minded caterers.
