been amply met by a novel luncheon
club method evolved by ilia West Tex-
as Chamber of Commerce which. Riv-

efficient and result-achieving as a
chamber of commerce with an em-
ployed secretary.
The luncheon-club plan was studied

Gaul who was the "husband" in tho
case
Her arrest camo about following an
altercation with her "wife" Mrs.
Jeanette Simmons. According to the
story told to the police by "husband"
Caul tho two women have lived to-
gether as man and wife for more than
a year and a half
Mrs. Gaul says she came to Des
Moines two years ago from. Chicago
dressed as a man. Sho obtained work
as a cook in a local restaurant. Fol-
lowing a short courtship Jlrs. Gaut
says sho ''married" Mrs. Simmons
Mrs. Simmons says'that sho discovered
that her "husband" was a woman
three weeks after thp "marriage." Sho
says shei feared to reveal to anyone

Toasted Muffins With Ham Filling
Split muffins. Spread both sides
with butter worked to a cream and
lightly seasoned with mustard nil
with ham mixture and put 'together
like a sandwich. Toast first on one
side and then on tho other. Servo
very hot.
HAM MIXTURE Two tablespoons
butter 2 tablespoons flour 1-4 tea-
spoon curry powder. 1-2 cup "boiling
water. 1 toaspobn Worcestershire
sauce 4 tablespoons tomato catsup
3-4 cup chopped ham.
Melt butter and cook over a slow
fire till brown. Add fldur arid stir
over a not tiro till brown. Add currv
powder and cook a few minutes. Add
boiling water slowly add Worcester-
shire sauce and catsup. Stir until
boiling. Add ham and heat thor-
oughly but do not lot boll after addr
ing meat. Use Immediately. Cold'
boiled ham Is preferable to broiled
or fried ham.

paprika 1-8 teaspoon mustard
