THE ALASKAN DANDELION
Jordan Isom
The Dandelion comes as an exotic foreigner
from the West, arrayed in opaque yellow robes.
She bats her alluring eyes at northern strangers,
concealing her plans
to colonize, monopolize, and terrorize.
Much too late the Fireweed, the Forget-me-not,
the Lupine, and the Wild Rose realize the danger.
Desperately the Natives tear frail necks,
and bright heads roll into large dumpsters.
Little do they know the Dandelion's plans
as she dons funeral clothes of wispy white.
