School board to
meet Oct. 7th
Th# Claude Independent School
board is scheduled to meet Tues-
day night, October 7th instead
of the 14th (second Tuesday,
which is a regular time). The
meeting was set up a week be-
cause several of the members
would have had to be absent and
out of town on the second Tues-
day night.
Legion meeting
here tonight
Harold Gist Post No. 544 of the
American Legion will meet in re-
gular session Thursday night, Oct.
2nd, at 8:00 o'clock in Legion
Hall. All members and friends are
urged to attend.

Sealed proposals for construct-
ing 16.199 miles of Gra., Strs.,
Flex, Base & Asph. Cone. Pavt.
from 0.5 Mi. E. of Claude to
Donley Co. Li. on Highway No.
US 287, covered by F 523(8) & P
438(31), in Armstrong County,
will be received at the Highway
Department, Austin, until 9:00 A.
M., October 14, 1958, and then
publicly opened and read.
This is a "Public Works". Pro-
ject, as defined in House Bill No.
54 of the 43rd Legislature of the
State of Texas and House Bill
No. 115 of the 44th Legislature
of the State of Texas, and as
such is subject to the provisions
of said House Bills. No provisions
herein are intended to be in
conflict with the provisions of
said Acts.
In accordance with the provi-
sions of said House Bills, the
State Highway Commission has
ascertained and set forth in the
proposal the wage rates, for each
craft or type of workman or me-
chanic needed to execute the work
on the above named project, now
prevailing in the locality in which
the work is to be performed, and
the Contractor shall pay not less
than these wage rates as shown
in the proposal for each craft
or type of laborer, workman or
mechanic employed on this pro-
ject.
Legal holiday work shall be
paid for at the regular governing
rates.

Dewald, Resident Engineer, Am-
arillo, Texas, and Texas Highway
Department, Austin. Usual rights

guest Mr. J. J. Justiss. and Lion
Lloyd Nelson's, guest was Jimmy
McFarland. and Ben Halsted and
Joe Stephenson were guests of
Lion Roy Brunson.
Black's interesting talk conclud-
ed the meeting.
