am compiling new information for a second edition of A Pioneer Southern
Family Life on the period of 1820 - 1900 and the lives of several pioneer
Upshur County families. The book will be released early next year. It
will contain chapters on the following families: Joseph Berry WADE, b.
1815 S.C.; Thomas Jefferson KNIGHT, b. 1827 Tenn.; Young Marion LANGFORD,
b. 1831 Ga. and his father James LANGFORD, b. 1771 S.C.; Samuel and
William NUTT of the early 1800's; Dr. Benjamin Franklin WILLIAMS, b. 1819
Ala.; Henry PETTY, b. 1832 in Marietta, Ga.; Joe D. MATHIS, b. 1839 in
Hardaman Co., Tenn.; Steven Glynn CARROLL and his father John Wesley
CARROLL b. 1815 in Ga. Many other lines are included and all the above
mentioned men who lived in Upshur County in the 19th Century. Any help

381 HARMAN (HERMAN) - I am looking for a death date for my gr.gr.gr.grandmother,
Evelyn HARMAN, who is believed to haved.died in Tyler, Smith Co.,
Texas about 1880. She was born in 1805, N.C. and was married (1st) to
Anderson C. SMITH; (2nd) Hezakiel HARMAN. On the 1870 Smith County
Census she is listed living in the household of Elizabeth SMITH and her
children. Would appreciate any information anyone has on this family.

382 BUNKLEY - PRESLEY - FERGUSON - We are a Black family with known
histories in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, No. Carolina, and Maryland. My
great-grandmother was Lizzy PRESLEY, b. 1847 in Virginia; she was
Indian or part-Indian. She married Stebo BUNKLEY, b. in Africa or Ga.
1822 and a slave in Mobile, Ala. and Selma, Ala. They had the following
children: Isiah (my grandfather), Stevenann, Lucy Ann, Crawford and
Estella. Some of their relatives during the late 1800's were: Frank
PRESLEY, Washington Presley, Lavirginia (?) PRESLEY, Chaney PRESLEY,
Allen BUNKLEY, Elizabeth BUNKLEY, Mariah BUNKLEY, Carrie Bunkley, Miller
BUNKLEY, Cato BUNKLEY, Francis BUNKLEY, Minerva BUNKLEY, Alse BUNKLEY,
Cathrina BUNKLEY and Jennie BUNKLEY. Would like to exchange information
with anyone concerning these lines. I would greatly appreciate any
clues, suggestions, referrals, etc. on other members of these lines.
My grandfather ISIAH BUNKLEY, b. in Montgomery Ala. married Mary Jane
FERGUSON. They lived in Bonham and Denison Texas.
