Representative Roger Murphy from Howardwick was here to ask what
the charges would be for trash pick up service whould be for the
City of Howardwick. He asked for five dumpsters to be set at
City Hall of Howardwick. Homer Brewer and the Oasis would need
to pay for their own dumpsters. Discussion followed, the Board
of Aldermen decided that Ernie Johnston needs to check with the
City of Memphis before any contract can be made.
Mary Linn Bills gave a library report. No work study is
available at this time from the college. She is asking that the
budget be amended to use the work study money for part time help.
No action was taken at this time.
Discussion followed concerning community service people that are
not showing up for their hours. We will contact proper
authorities if they do not complete their hours.
Bill Stavenhagen gave a report on the Great American Race Pitstop,
June 29. It will cost $750.00 to be paid to the Great American
Race. There will be prizes awarded for the top Pitstops. If we
win, the money will be donated to the Burton Memorial Library.
Motion was made that the $750.00 be paid out of the Motel
Occupancy Tax, if we are awarded a Pitstop, by Alderman Bobbie
Kidd, seconded by Alderman McKinley Smith. Motion carried.
Discussion of the purchase of a Fax machine followed. Motion was
made by Alderman David Pitts, seconded by Bobbie Kidd to use a
local Fax service at this time until it is necessary to have a
Fax machine in City Hall. Motion carried.
Alderman David Pitts recommended that people that have brochure
bids bring a rough draft to the next meeting on March 10, 1992.
Mission Cable has been digging up streets that have been paved.
We discussed the need to send then a bill for repairing said street
Bills for the month of January 1992 were presented, and upon a
motion by Alderman David Pitts, seconded by Alderman McKinley
Smith, said bills were ordered paid. Motion carried.
Fire Department Receipts and Disbursements for the month of
January 1992, were presented and upon a motion by Alderman Bobbie
Kidd, seconded by David Pitts, said report was approved. Motion
carried.
There being no further business at this time, motion was made by
Alderman David Pitts, seconded by McKinley Smith, to. adjourn.
Motion carried.
