MINUTES
MARCH 8, 1994
7:00 P.M.
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Clarendon met in regular
session on March 8, 1994, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room,
City Hall.
Members present: Mayor por-tem Bobbie Kidd, Aldermen McKinley
Smith, Delmar Wiggs, Mlac Stavenhagen, and David Pitts.
Members absent: Mayor Steve Smith.
Others present: City Secretary Sue Howard, Ernie Johnston,
Benny Osborn, Kelly Tunnell, Jeremy Tunnell, and Frank Hommell.
Minutes of the February 22, 1994, meeting were read, and upon a
motion by Alderman McKinley Smith, seconded by Alderman Delmar
Wiggs, said minutes were approved. Motion carried.
Discussion followed concerning the meeting of City Aldermen,
City employees, and John Kiehl of PRPC, about applying for a
Solid Waste Recycling Grant. Ernie Johnston will attend school
in Lubbock on March 15, 16 and 17 to learn more about
recycling programs,
The Board of Aldermen instructed City Secretary to write a
second letter to the Cable TX concerning the need to clean
up after the crew left limbs, cable, and service boxes. They
set April 1 as a deadline to get the job done.
Motion was made by Alderman David Pitts, seconded by Delmar
Wiggs, to order an election to be held May 7, 1994, to elect
three aldermen. Motion carried.
ORDER FOR CITY OFFICERS' ELECTION
I, Bobbie Kidd, in my capacity as Mayor Pro-tem of the City
of Clarendon, Texas, do hereby order that an election be held
in said City on the 7th day of May, 1994, for the purpose of
electing the following officials for said City: Three aldermen.
That in accordance with an order adopted by the City Council
of said City, said election shall be held at City Hall with
Bunny Owens as Presiding Judge. The polls shall be open
from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
City Secretary Sue Howard is hereby appointed Clerk for early
voting, and Janice Barbee is appointed Deputy Clerk for early
voting. The early voting shall be held at City Hall within
said City and said place of early voting shall remain open
between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each day for
said early voting. The above described place for early voting
is also the early clerk's mailing address to which ballot
applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent.
Early voting, both by personal appearance and by mail, shall
be by paper ballots and shall be canvassed by a special
canvassing board, and Bunny Owens, as Presiding Judge, and
her appointed clerks are hereby appointed the Special Canvassing
Board ofr the election.
Thiat said election shall be held in accordance with the
Election Code of the State and only resident qualified voters
of said city shall be elifible to vote at said election.
Notice of said election will be given in accordance with the
terms and provisions of Article 4.06 of the Election Code
and Art. 29e and the City Secretary is hereby instructed
to have said notice posted and/or published in accordance
with said Articles 4.06 and 29e.
