President's Report
We have just returned from
attending an outstanding 12th
Armored Division Association
reunion, with over 1200 people
in attendance. Many thanks are
due Warren Maue and his com-
mittee for their many hours of
planning, working, and putting
together a tremendous reunion
- every place we went we saw
Hellcats, Hellkittens and fri-
ends having a wonderful time.
There was a large number of
first-timers in Louisville, and
the ones I talked with assured
me this wouldn't be their last
reunion; all of them were hav-
ing a great time seeing their
buddies again after 40-plus
years.
The trip to Fort Knox and
the Patton Museum, which in-
cluded the dedication of the
Division obelisk with the Bat-
talion monuments circled
around, will be an occasion
long remembered. The dedica-
tion ceremonies brought lumps
in our throats and tears to our
eyes, and we owe many thanks
to Owsley Costlow and this
committee for arranging such
a tremendous program.
Appointed positions have
been filled as listed on Page 2
of the "Hellcat News". In ad-
dition to those listed are -
Transfer Agent - Leland C.
Winand, Serv. - 23rd; Mr. Hell-
cat Award Committee - Hugh
Silsby, A-134th; Council of
Armored Division Associations
- Owsley C. Costlow, A-23rd
and Clinton E. Seitz, B-495th;
Parliamentarian - Gil Heine,
C-66th.
Donald W. Seedborg, B-82nd,
will continue to keep us posted
on the Rhin et Danube Assn.
Now is the time to start
"filling up the old sugar bowl"
and make plans for 1988 when
we will meet in Kansas City,
MO. In 1989 we will be going
to San Antonio, TX - August 30
to September 3.

WELL DESERVED THANK LAKE ERIE-OHIO RIVER
YOU AND RECOGNITION CHAPTER REUNION
We received the following
which we heartily endorse,
applaud and pass on.
Dear Bob: I wish to use the
Hellcat News to adequately
thank the Kentucky people who
helped put on the 41st reunion.
These people, when I called
and asked for their help, re-
sponded and did what was re-
quested of them. A graphic
guide from the 12th Arm'd Div.
Assn. would be a great help,
especially when so many of us
had never served on a com-
mittee like this.
Again I say that the follow-
ing people can be justly proud
of the help and aid they gave
in putting over the biggest and
one of the best reunions to date:
M/M Owsley Costlow
M/M Louis Walton
M/M John Thompson
M/M Francis Roby
M/M John Bailey
M/M Ed Seiller
M/M Robert Steinmetz
M/M A1 Lysinger
M/M Paul Belshoff
M/M Clyde Robertson
Mr. Robert Downey
also Mrs. Ed Sheehan and Mr.
Robert Luedtke who emceed the
Ladies Luncheon.
Gratefully,
Ed Sheehan

ft FROM THE n
SECRETARY'S UESK
The record attendance at the
Louisville Reunion provides
proof that the bond between
Hellcats becomes stronger as
the years go by. There is no
doubt that many attended be-
cause of the ceremonies in the
memorial park at Ft. Knox, but
one also saw the faces of those
Hellcats who attend reunion
after reunion each and every
year. It gives one a feeling of
pride to be a part of such an
association.
Despite the success of the re-
union, we experienced some of
the foul-ups that come about as
a result of inexperience, and
human failure. This one was
no different, and it becomes im-
portant to approach the mem-
bership regarding a failure that
could cause dissention later on
when it comes time to pay the
annual dues.
Your Secretary would like
each and every member who
paid his dues or a booster con-
tribution in cash at the reunion
to report this to him. No need
to report any payments that
were made via personal check
or money order.
What occurred was that when
committee members at the reg-
istration counter were confront-
ed with large groups of arrivals
with no advance registrations,
or requesting additional tickets
or tours, they were so busy that
they accepted cash payments
without recording the inform-
ation on paper - merely placing
the cash receipts in the cash
box, with no accounting record.
As a result, many members
may have paid their dues (pre-
sumably for the year 1988) or
contributed cash boosters, and
would not be properly credited
on their membership record.
Your Secretary is concerned
lest some member be incorrect-
ly advised later on that he is
delinquent, when he paid his
dues at the reunion and did not
receive proper credit. So, please
let your Secretary know if you
paid dues or booster contribu-
tions in cash at the reunion.
This will assist me in straight-
ening out the records, and
assuring that every member is
properly credited with dues or
booster payments-
Thanks in advance for your
cooperation in this matter.
Your Secretary
