A One of the basic principles
of a selective service system is
that all registrants shall be
treated on an equal basis The
X1order in which individuals will
be considered for classification
and possible service will be de
t fcmined by lottery a national
drawing
Q Will each local registrant re
iceive a definite number
A Yes After the registration is
complete in each local area the
registration cards will be shuf
fled and mixed before numbering
Each person will then be
M assigned a serial number and
a list of these numbers in each
local area will be posted for
public inspection It is contem
plated that there will not be
more than 3500 registrants in
any single area so the serial
numbers will run from 1 to
3500 or less
Q Will Number 1 In each area
be the first man called for classi
fication
A No Numbers corresponding
to the numbers in each local
ea probably from 1 to 3500
will be placed In a container
in Washington D C and a
drawing for order will take
place For example Number
2875 may be drawn first then
Number 147 then Number
3033 and so on until all num
bers have been drawn The order
in which they were drawn
will then be made into a code
list
Q Will the first number on the
code list say Number 2875 be
the number of the first man In
each local area ot be called
AiNo To insure the most complete
impartiality in the administration
of the selective service
act another drawing will beheld
Thjs time only one number
win lfc drawn possibly by
c he Trident of the United
States This number might conceivably
be Number 3033 and
will be known as the key num
ber This will be the number

Science Forced To Shake Head In
Doubt Before Withering Sermon
Was your great grandfather

Persons have lived who
were not favored with a
Gable or Leigh profile at
whom one might give a piercing
look and wonder but Dr
W H Clark told his congregation
at the First Baptist
church in a special address
Sunday evening that even
science is forced to shake its
head in answering the perplexities
of evolution
The Tulla minister used four
arguments to repudiate the
claims of evolutionists that
mans origin can be traced
back to the realms of lower
animals Fossil remains anatomical
homology physical
likenesses vestegel organs
and recapitulation or embronlc
development
Dr Clark pointed out that
leading exponents of the theory
of evolution can establish
only hypothetical ideas to support
their beliefs and vague
findings but in spite of their
research can offer only abstract
reasoning to give pronouncement
to such theories
As for that matter the
preacher emphasized both
sides are handicapped for tangible
evidence to support their
arguments but when the thing
is brought down to a fine
point wo will find that Gods

AUSTIN Oct 21 With the general
election less than two weeks
away RooievcU forces in Texan
under the direction of National
Committeeman Myron G Blalock
turned on the heat to push
their campaign to the goal of n
million Roosevelt votes and raise
campaign funds to counteract the
republican drive for Wlllklc In
border states
This week Blalock and other
leading democrats Including Speaker
Sam Rayburn challenged Texnn
democrats to march a million
strong to the ballot box on Nov
6 Thousands of Texas Young
Democrats rallied around the
Presidents speech to young America
yesterday and throughout the
farflung democratic organization
Intensified effort to get out tho
vote and to raise campaign money
was in evidence
and will maintain its status as
tho banner state of the Democratic
party Blalock directing
the state campaign from Austin
headquarters declared Campaign
funds arc not needed for Texos
as the entire organization Is on a
volunteer basis But funds are
desperately needed by the national
committee tl counteract the
staggering amount of money being
expended throughout the nation
by the republican state and
national organizations Every conceivable
political trick la being
used from a smear campaign to
fabulously expensive radio and
advertising programs to beat down
the Roosevelt victory tide the
democratic leader charged
Only through a democratic ma
jority can those Tcxons Including
Speaker of the House Sam Ray
burn and the chairmen of power
ful congressional and senatorial
committees maintain those Impor

would mean that such distinguished
