fthere Tuesday and Wednesday and
predicted that the harvest would
be almost completed fay July 4 if
fair weather prevailed Many
fnrmcrs have not started harvesting
due to the shortage of combines
and farm labor hut the peek
of the harvest should come sometime
next week although local
gi nlnmcn say they are not expecting
a heavy run of wheat like the
one they experienced last year be1
cause the yields arc running much
lower this year than lust and due
to the lack of enough combines lo
harvest all the crop at the same
time Getting enough railway
cars to haul off the 1915 wheat as
it is harvested seems to bo the
main problem of the elevators
Yields in the Tulia area are running
higher than expected with
the average around S to 10 bushels
per acre The wheat in the Happy
area however is much better and
many yields of 20 bushels or more
iper acre have ibecn reported The
average test of most of the grain
being receive here was 58 poinds
per bushel Local elevators were
paying 145 per bushel for the
grain Wednesday mornirg as the
Chicago market opemed slightly
lower

Church wore guests at the Tulia
Kiwanis Club Tuesday at noon
Rev Flowers was the principal
tpeakeron a church relations program
He talked on the chinch
and the war stating that the present
world conflict was caused by
the breaking down of international
morality which was brought a
lout by lack of support for the
churches
He pointed out that approximately
18 billon dollars as ipont
each year for law enforcement and
crime prosecution which amounted
to 8 12 centi out of every dollar
while only 0 12 cents of each dollar
was spent for education government
and churches The
churches not only need more financial
iHHi tiuce but need the
support of the people by attending
church nnd helping others and
thus strengthen the institution
that will heij do away with juvl
