Introduction.
The Session of 1912-'13, was a very pleasant and prosperous
school year. Following a four years drouth, and in the face of many
other difficulties, we enrolled TWO HUNDRED AND SEVEN students.
Our work was both pleasant and profitable. As far as we know, there
IS NOT A DISSATISFIED STUDENT. A majority of them expect
to be with us again during the session of 1913-'14, and to bring
others with them.
We have, at a very heavy expense, gotten together BY FAR the
strongest faculty ever secured for a Christian College in Texas. We
hope the people will show their appreciation of such opportunities for
their children by giving us their patronage that we may be able to
continue and enlarge this excellent faculty.
We offer you EDUCATIONAL as well as CHRISTIAN value. We
do not conceed that any school is stronger than ours from a Christian
viewpoint, and we state positively that it is stronger from an educational
viewpoint than any other Christian College in Texas.
THE AGE
This is an age of intense activity and wonderful achievement. The
contest is open to all, the rich and the poor, from the city and from
the country; and the final result depends only on the willingness and
ability of the individuals to make the preparation for and to do the
work necessary in order to success. The world is thinking and acting
today in religion, in morals, in science, in philosophy, in the arts, in
agriculture, in commerce, IN EVERYTHING as never before. POSSIBILITIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES are daily increasing.
THE TRAINING DEMANDED
We must live in the world AS IT IS NOW, and not as it HAS
BEEN in the past, or as it MAY BE in the future. We must succeed
or fail in the midst of present day conditions. These conditions call
for intense activity of body, mind and soul. The keenest competition
must be met on every hand in every activity of life. The individual
who succeeds today must think and work, and be inspired and supported
in that thinking and working by a strong heart. He must have a
body strong and able to endure work. He must have a mind, trained
for thoroughness, promptness, common sense, memory, reliability, foresight,
judgment and system. He must have a soul, trained to maintain
his interest, enthusiasm, persistence, will power, love of work and
faith.
We shall not simply fill the minds of students trusted to us, with
facts, figures, dates and rules-information. Ours is a TRAINING
SCHOOL. We shall do our very best to properly train all of our
students in body, mind and soul. In body, that they may be STRONG,
