Special technical studies. Moscheles Op. 70; Kullak's School of
Octave; Czerny Op. 740; Gradus and Parnassum; Bach's Preludes,
Fugues and Suites. Preludes, Waltzes and Mazurkas of Chopin. Sonatas
and Concertos of Beethoven, Schumann, Mendelssohn and others.
Special study of American composers.
SENIOR
Advanced technical work. Chopin's Etudes; Bach s Well-Tempered
Clavichord; Henselt Op. 2. Representative studies from modern
composers. Resume of the Classical School. Special attention to the
recognized composers of today.
VOICE CULTURE
PREPARATORY
Breathing exercises. Lung development. Elements of voice
building and tone production. Study of the vowels. Simple intervals
and formation of the scales. Simple exercises and songs for the
application of the above principles.
FRESHMAN
First grade continued. Quality of tone, scales and arpeggi. Vocalizes
and songs to develop freedom and distinct articulation.
SOPHOMORE.
Exercises in vocalization. Embellishments. Songs ballads and
arias of moderate difficulty. Examination in this division will include
the Preparatory piano course and "History of Songs and Ballads," by
McKensie.
JUNIOR
Embellishments continued. Studies to develop style, agility and
expression. Phrasing and interpretation through the study of songs,
ballads and arias.51
