153. American History. This is a study of the causes of
the Civil War the struggle between the states, the reorganization
after the Civil War, and the part played in the World War and
reconstruction. Special emphasis is placed on the political, industrial,
and social achievements of our country up to the present
time.
213. Constitutional History of the United States. This
course includes the steps leading up to the Constitutional Convention,
the convention itself, and the testing of the Constitution.
265. Modern Civilization. This course is a survey of modem
political, social, educational, scientific, and economic movements.
Among the specific topics which will be discussed are
the rise and fall of the German Empire, imperialism and world
politics in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the World
War.
363. History of the Near East. This is a survey of the history
of the Balkan States, their relations to the different European
powers, their rivalries, their problems, the Balkan Wars,
and the World War. A detailed study of the Turkish Empire is
given.
372. History of the West. This course pays special attention
to history of the frontier days, westward expansion, Indian
troubles, early trails and outposts. Texas history is especially
emphasized.
322. History of Germany. This course is a brief survey of
Germany since 1740. The development of the Empire is traced
and the ideals and institutions are studied. Special emphasis is
placed on her part in the World War.
332. History of the Far East. This in an intensive problem
course on Japan, China, Oceania, and the possessions of the different
World Powers in the Far East. The International relations
as well as the social, economic, and political problems will
be reviewed.
343. History of France. This course is a study of the Congress
of Vienna, the downfall of Napoleon, the Franco-Prussian
