373-Christ the Messiah. The hope of Israel is considered briefly
and a detailed study is made of the life and teachings of
Christ as to how they fulfilled this hope and met humanity's need
for a Savior. This course is a very minute exegesis. The very
best encyclopedias and commentaries are consulted, the teaching
of Christ as it applies to our own problems is stressed.
383.-Paul's Ministry. A detailed study of the development
of the early church and contents and messages of each of the letters
from Romans through Philemon.
393.-Applied Christianity. An exposition of the New
Testament books from Hebrews to Revelation with an application
of the teachings to us. A very practical course.
303a.-Christian Evidences: Christianity and Modern
Thought.-The several schools of modern thought are considered
in their history, their values, and their relation to Christianty.
The place of the Super-natural and the mission of Jesus are studied.
The place and power of Christianity are noted. The moral
value of faith and the Christian virtues are considered, and the
content of Christian experience is inductively evaluated. This
course was formerly Christian Evidence 392.
303b.-Christian Evidences: Bible Text and Canon. The
Canon of the New Testament is carefully studied in its relation
to the reasonableness of Christian faith. By tracing the history
of the New Testament books faith is based on facts. Some consideration
is given to the books of the Old Testament in regard
to their place in the Canon. A large volume of work is done
including personal research.
303c.-Christian Evidences: Historic Purity of the Bible. A
special study of the historical data including modern archeological
discoveries which have a bearing on the biblical record is
made in this course. The value of the material in elucidating obscure
language and passages of the Bible is considered. This is a
fruitful field in which the claims of those who contend for the
historical accuracy of the Bible are established.
CHURCH HISTORY.
255.-The Early Chlrch. In this course the beginning of the
Christian movement, the Zwinglian reformation, and the rise of
the several chief movements of Protestantism are the chief topics
for study.45
