DIVISION OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
311.-Introduction to Education.
An orientation course in the field of education.
312.-Educational Psychology.
A study of the principles of psychology as applied to teaching.
331.-The Elementary School Curriculum.
A course involving the study of the materials and teaching
techniques of the curriculum of the public elementary school.
Opportunities are provided for observation in the Demonstration
school.
332.-The Organization and Administration of the Elementary
Curriculum.
Special attention will be given to problems bearing on the administration
of the elementary school curriculum.
250.-The Teaching of Reading in the Elementary Grades.
A course having to do with modern principles and techniques
involved, in the teaching of reading in a progressive elementary
school.
353.-Teaching the Social Studies in the Elementary Grades.
In this course the students apply current principles of education
in the development of a social studies program. Much time will
be devoted to the development of units of work. Students will
be taught to select and organize social science materials for the
purpose of developing social skills, understandings, and appreciations.251.-Teaching Arithmetic in the Elementary Grades.
The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with ideas
and teaching practices relating to arithmetic in the modern
curriculum.
360.-Audio-Visual Instruction.
A comprehensive course dealing with the application of the principles
of educational psychology in the use of visual, audiovisual
and auditory aids in the instructional program.
366.-Organization of the Curriculum for Character Education.
A search for methods and materials that may be used in fostering
desirable habits, attitudes and ideals in the growing child.49
