115.-Beginners' Course. Reading, conversation, grammar.
Correct pronounciation insisted upon from the first.
The vocabulary, idioms, and grammatical principles are fixed
in the memory by extensive use of Spanish conversation; this
causes the student to acquire a living language, not a mere
book-language. The class will read such short stories, novels,
and plays as best portray Spanish and Spanish-American life,
customs, and ideals. Each student will be required to read
during the year at least one book from the Library on these
customs, manners and ideals as collateral reading.
