the courses must be taken at the 600-level, and at least
30 hours must be completed at Abilene Christian

students may substitute an additional course in this
area for the preaching requirement above. Students
will be assisted in making necessary arrangements for
field work. If the internship requirement is waived
because of adequate ministry experience, a three-hour
ministry course will be substituted at the discretion of
the adviser.
Comprehensive Examinations
Comprehensive examinations will be given in each of the
required areas toward the end of the program. It is
essential that a minister of the Word spend a generous
portion of time in learning the content of the Bible in
English and in making that content a fixed possession
of the mind and heart. Students will be expected to
continue such study in addition to formal course
work. Students may be tested over the English Bible
at the end of the second year or as a part of the
comprehensive examination.
Degree Requirements, Plan II
Students who have an undergraduate major in Bible and
18 hours of work equivalent to the requirements in the
90-hour program may graduate after taking 72 hours.
Elective courses will be substituted for all required
courses (in Plan I) that were taken at the undergraduate
level. However, at least two courses (6 hours) must be
taken in each of the following areas: Old Testament,
New Testament, Historical Studies, Doctrinal Studies,
and Ministry.
Electives will be selected to prepare the student for his
particular objective, and may be chosen from additional
departmental courses or from courses in other
departments.
Doctor of Ministry
Adviser: Dr. Charles Siburt
The Doctor of Ministry is an advanced professional
degree designed to enhance the minister's competency
and skill in performing the essential tasks of ministry.
Distinguished from academic research programs such as
the PhD or ThD, the primary emphasis of the Doctor of
Ministry program is on excellence in the practice of
ministry, and is not intended to be an academic teaching
degree.
The program currently offers two tracks, or areas of
emphasis. The Preaching and Church Growth track is
designed for those whose ministry will focus in the area
of public proclamation of the Word and the development
of churches, both domestic and foreign. This track
