A study of how to teach Home Economics. Lecture three hours
per week. Formerly Home Economics 353. (Fall)

A survey study of the consumption of wealth that directly touches
the welfare of the family in every day life. Prerequisite: Home
Management 323. Lecture three hours per week. (Fall)
381.-Child Care and Training
This course gives the student a better understanding of the physical,
mental, social, moral, and religious life of the child. Lecture
three hours per week. (Spring)
393.-Home and Community Relations.
The relation which should exist between individuals in the home,
and between the home and community. Lecture three hours per
week. (Winter)
LIBRARY SCIENCE
Courses in Library Science are for those students who wish to
qualify for positions as teacher-librarian or librarian. The work is
very thorough and much time is spent in laboratory work in the
library, working with the books.
Classes are kept small in order to allow ample time for discussion
and the solving of individual problems.
Students over thirty-five, and those who do not intend to take up
library work definitely are not encouraged to enroll for these courses.
Classes are not usually open to freshmen.
321.-Classification.
The classification of books. Dewey Decimal system. Laboratory
problems. Five hours of laboratory work a week. Authority file.
322.-Cataloging.
Cataloging rules for the dictionary card catalog. Subject headings,
Sear's list, and Library of Congress. Filing rules. Making of a
shelf list. Ordering and using L. C. cards. Problems worked out
in the library during laboratory hours.
323.-Library Methods.
Principally laboratory. Routine of library work. Under supervision
of the Librarian. Work in the various duties rotated among
the students. Topics studied: ordering, accessioning, circulating,
shelving and keeping library during laboratory hours. Not offered
1933-'34.
350.-Book Selection.
Principles and methods of book selection for libraries. Most important
aids to book selection.
