and vocation will be objects of special study with the view
of determining, as far as possible, their contribution to Western
civilization. Summer Quarter.
391.-The Family. This course considers the development
of the family as a social institution. The nature, the history,
and the present status, of the family are studied. The outlook
for the family is viewed with special consideration.
GEOGRAPHY
343.-Regional geography. A study of the production,
consumption, and importance in world trade of the principal
resources of the major geographic regions of the world. A
course in regional human geography.
320.-Principles of Human Geography. An intensive and
scientific study of those fundamental relations between physical
environment and human activities. A fundamental course in
"humanizing" geography.
321.-Conservation of Natural Resources. This study will
include a careful summing up of our present resources, and
analysis of the different sources of waste, and a study of the
best forms of reclamation and conservation.
322.-Teaching Geography in the Grades. The nature and
scope of Geography, the subject matter to be selected, and the
best methods of presentation for the different grades is included
in this course.
351.-Geography of North America. A study of the continent
as a seat of modern industrial society. Each region is
studied with regard to its resources, industries and commercial
and social prospects.
380.-Geography of the South. A study of the natural
regions of the South with special emphasis on the influence of
Geographic factors upon the human activities of the South. Texas
will be studied intensively.
304.-Industrial Geography. A study of the business relations
and activities in the production, movement, consumption
and conservation of the principal articles of commerce. The
basis of this study is industry.
