HOME ECONOMICS
355.-Economics of the Family. Lecture three hours per
week. Prerequisite Home Management 323. A study of the
consumption of wealth that directly touches the welfare of the
family in every day life. It includes a discussion of the retail
market, the social aspects of the manufacture of foods and clothing,
and the responsibility of the consumer for conditions in the
industrial world. It includes a study of household production,
of the size, source, and apportionment of the family income.
381.-Child Care and Training. Lecture and recitation three
hours per week. Prerequisite, Psychology 331. The purpose of
this course is to give the student an understanding of the physical,
mental, social, moral, and religious life of the child. Stress
is placed upon the care and training that should be given within
the home. Topics: the responsibility of parenthood, physical
care of infants and older children, psychology of childhood, and
moral and religious training. Formerly Home Economcs 363.
This is not a laboratory course.
393.-Home and Community Relations. Lecture and recitation
three hours per week. The purpose of this course is to give
the student an understanding of the relation which should exist
between individuals in the home and between the home and community.Topics: Sanitation, water, milk supply, meat markets, pure
food laws, things which tend to hold the home together, the share
of father, mother, and children in the home. This is not a laboratory
course.
