379 - Teaching Science in High School.
A course designed to give the student an understanding of materials
and methods employed in teaching in the various areas of high
school science.
380 - Teaching High School English.
The presentation of current methods that have proved desirable
and valuable in developing adequate performance in all phases of
communication. The study includes an analysis of current adopted
textbooks in this field.
382 - Teaching Business Subjects in High School.
Same as Business Administration 382. Methods of teaching various
business subjects in high school. Prerequisites: Education 311, 354, and
twelve hours in business administration.
384 - Methods and Materials of High School Mathematics.
A course designed for teachers of high school mathematics emphasizing
the problems of individual difference in ability, interests, and
needs; an analysis of the subject matter of algebra, and plane
geometry; and a thorough study of the various types of problems from
the standpoint of clear interpretation, methods of attack, and solutions.
Prerequisite: Twelve semester hours in mathematics.
385 - History of Education,
A general course in the history of education.
386 - Measurement and Evaluation for Elementary Teachers.
This course deals with measurement and evaluation in the light of
modern educational objectives. Topics considered include the evaluation
process; the study of individuals; use of measurement in the
improvement of instruction; the administrative and supervisory aspects
of measurement.
387 - Teaching Speech in the Secondary School.
A course in methods of teaching those speech courses approved
for credit in Texas high schools. Practical problems in curricular
development and lesson planning. Registration by permission of the
instructor.
389 - Driver Education.
Designed for students interested in traffic safety and the teaching
of driver education. The course includes instruction in traffic laws,
accident reporting, driver's responsibility, automobile construction and
maintenance, automotive customer, and behind the wheel instruction.
The course is required for certification to teach driver education in
Texas Public Schools. Two hours lecture and one hour laboratory per
week.
