The Graduate School
For many years there has been a need for work beyond the
bachelor's degree in Abilene Christian College. Graduates have
found it necessary to go elsewhere for graduate study. Many of
them have expressed a desire to remain in Abilene Christian College
for their graduate work. Others who have done their undergraduate
work elsewhere have expressed a desire to do at least
one year of work in a Christian college. It is recognized that two
classes of students will be interested in pursuing courses at the
graduate level: those who will become candidates for an advanced
degree, and those who wish to do additional work in their major
field, but who will not be candidates for a degree. Following, therefore,
are the purposes of the graduate division.
1. To afford an opportunity for graduates of Abilene Christian
College to pursue a fifth year of work in order that they may be
better equipped for leadership in their respective fields.
2. To afford an opportunity for graduates of other institutions
to have a fifth year in a Christian college.
3. To afford an opportunity for qualified students to secure
the Master's degree from a Christian college.
4. To stimulate the growth and development of the faculty of
the College with the challenge that comes from offering advanced
work.
5. To foster research in those fields in which the fifth year
students and faculty of the College will be concerned.
DEGREES OFFERED
The Graduate School offers three degrees, the Master of Arts,
the Master of Science, and the Master of Education degrees. Major

together by departments. Those courses whose numbers are followed
by the letters gr. are open to advanced undergraduates and graduates.
