Abilene Christian University does not offer an ROTC program.
However, Hardin-Simmins University, which is nearby, does offer Army
ROTC and ACU students may enroll in these courses.
The Army ROTC program is for the purpose of developing officerleaders
and offers a course of instruction leading to a commission as
an officer in the Army Reserve or regular Army. The curriculum is
divided into a Basic Course (freshman and sophomore years) and the
Advanced Course (junior and senior years). Any ACU freshman or
sophomore student may register for the Basic Course. Enrollment in
the Basic Course may register for the Basic Course. Enrollment in the
Basic Course does not commit a student to additional military training.
To be admitted to the Advanced Course, a student must have completed
the Basic Course, attended basic summer camp, or be a veteran.
Students enrolled in the Advanced Course receive subsistence pay of
$100 per month.
ROTC courses count as elective credit toward degrees at ACU.4
