Academic Information
Student Responsibility
Each student at Abilene Christian University should keep in mind
that he alone is ultimately responsible for understanding and fulfilling all
degree requirements. This catalog is designed to make planning and
scheduling a degree program as simple as possible.
Help in degree planning is available from several sources (such as
the Academic Affairs Office, Admissions Counseling, department chairmen
and advisors, and especially the Registrar) but the student must
make sure that recommendations, course plans, and total hours are
correct in relation to the catalog. Problems should be referred to the
Academic Affairs Office.
Note that each degree-seeking student must fulfill certain requirement
areas:
1. General Education Requirements
2. Departmental Core or Special Requirements (if specified in
catalog)
3. Major Requirements
4. Minimum majorand upper division hour requirements (see under
Planning a Degree below).
Numbering of Courses
ACU uses a four-digit numbering system. The first digit shows the
level of the course, the second digit shows the semester hours of
credit, and the last two digits distinguish between courses.
The following chart illustrates the meaning of each digit.semester hours
