strategies. (Same as Psy. 5374).

6301. Environmental Conservation Workshop.
A graduate-level short course to study and evaluate modern concepts of the proper use of all
natural resources; application of ecological principles and eco-system management techniques.
Topics covered will include energy resources, rural and urban land-use management, quality
water supplies and watersheds, grasslands, forests, soils, recreational resources, and human
resources. (Same as Agriculture 6301 and Biology 6301). This course, if used toward a master's
degree in education at ACU, must be taken for Biology or Agriculture credit rather than for
Education credit.
6311. General Research Methods.
An introduction to research methods and their application to research problems. Prerequisite:
Psy. 3356 or 3368 or equivalent. (Same as Bible M 6319, Com 6311, and Psy. 6311).
6314. Foundations of Reading.
An overview of the following: psychology of reading; linguistic foundations of reading; the
informal reading inventory; organizing the classroom reading program; and skills of reading.
Emphasis is placed on teaching reading to the "culturally different" child and the "gifted" and
"retarded" child. Prerequisite: Education 3363.
6315. Diagnostic Processes in Teaching Reading.
Investigation and application of diagnostic techniques and tests in reading. Each student will
diagnose, analyze, and record specific reading problems of a disabled reader. Results will be
compiled into a case study for child tested. Prerequisite: Education 3363.
6316. Teaching Content Area Reading Skills.
This course emphasizes the development of all the necessary reading skills for different types of
content area material students are required to read.
6320. Reading and the Related Language Arts.
Detailed study of the language arts and their relationship to reading instruction. Each student will
prepare a "learning center" related to his or her area of teaching and the reading-language arts.
Prerequisite: Education 3363.
6321. Politics and the Economy.
A course to provide overview of the processes of American government as they affect economics
and to assist public school teachers in free enterprise education. (Same as Gov. 6321).
6322. Reading Clinic.
A practicum in teaching reading. Each student teaches two children every day for one summer
term and diagnoses and remediates their reading problems. Session is concluded with a case study
of each child's progress and a report to parents. Prerequisite: Education 3363.
6324. Advanced Study of Problems in Child Development.
The physical, emotional, mental, and social aspects of the child as he develops in his environment.
6331. Advanced Study of Adolescent Problems.
An extended study of the problems of adolescence.
6337. Improvement of Teaching, Elementary and Secondary.
Emphasis is placed upon self-analysis and professional awareness. The Flanders' System of Interaction
Analysis is applied to micro-teaching at the elementary and secondary levels.
