Intercollegiate Athletics
Abilene Christian University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics and the Lone Star Conference, and fields teams in football,
basketball, track and field, tennis, golf, and baseball.
The university is also a member of the Texas Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics for Women and has been competing in basketball, volleyball, track,
and tennis.
The university has one of the best athletic facilities in the Southwest with its
4,600-seat Moody Coliseum-Auditorium and the adjoining Gibson Health and
Physical Education Center. ACU has an all weather nine-lane rubberized asphalt
track, the Elmer J. Gray Track Stadium, which seats 4,500. The Wildcats play their
home football games in the 15,042-seat P. E. Shotwell Stadium.
Intramurals
The university has a strong intramural program for both men and women.
Competitive sports include touch football, basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis,
badminton, ping-pong, track, bowling, and golf. The intramural program
