31BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE
Admission Requirements
Before being admitted to this program, a student must
satisfy the requirements listed under "Initial Academic
Program," p. 15.
General Education Requirements
HIST 117, 118, and PHYS 378 are required for all art
majors and partially fulfill the General Education Requirements
for science and behavioral science. Other General
Education requirements for the BA are listed on page 19.
Major Requirements for the BA in Art
The BA in Art is for the student who wishes to major in
art within the framework of a liberal arts degree. A large
number of elective hours allows a second major or its near
equivalent in those disciplines requiring 30 semester hours
or less for a major. Working with his advisor, the student
may tailor a program suitable to a specific interest or
career goal.
Departmental requirements for the BA in Art are as follows:1. Required Art courses, 48 hrs.: ART 100, 103, 104, 105,
106, 107, 221, 227, 228, 333, 341, 445, 499, and nine
advanced hours. Nine semester hours must be in
one studio area of sophomore or above courses and
a minimum GPA of 2.25 in courses in major.
2. Electives, 22-31 hrs., depending on General Education
requirements.

32Major Requirements for the BA in Art/Marketing
The BA in Art/Marketing combines training in Art with
training in business and economics and is designed for the
student who wishes to major in art with business as a
second field of study. The curriculum has been planned
jointly by the Art and Business Administration departments.
Majors in this area are prepared for work requiring
art and business skills such as merchandising, display,
art gallery, media and agency positions.
Departmental requirements for the BA in Art/Marketing
are as follows:
1. Required Art courses, 48 hrs.: ART 100, 103, 104, 105,
106, 107, 221, 227, 228, 333, 341, 445, 499, and nine
