Mr. R. J. Paterson, and Miss
Mamie Bayless were out driving
Sunday evening. 'In returning
from West End. they attempted
to cross the track of the Katy
just ahead of southbound passenger.
Just as 'they were nearly
across, their horse became frightened
at the reflection of the head
light and balked on them:.,
The train crashed into their
buggy and dragged it With them,
for some distance. Mr. Paterson
was thrown out in about 20 feet
from where it struck and as soon
as the train passed. he sought, out
his conipanion and found her
about fifteen feet further. along
laying on the 'side of the track
unconscious.
Miss Bayless received a severe
cut across her forehead from
which she bled profusely. Her
arm and shoulder were bruised
and she was rendered unconscious
by bthe shock.
Mr. Patterson had his arm dislocated
at the elbow, and his
shoulder hurt and left hip
bruised. The horse was not
hurt. It is needless to say' that
the buggy was a total wreck.Light.Now that cotton is beginningto
