City Engineer Hinson and Al-
derman E. C. Haeber are busily
engaged in surveying and taking
an inventory of the water works
system, with a view to making
a map, also to adjust the rates
and making a general improve-
ment of the system. As the
matter now stands, the city does
not realy know the true condition
of the plant. Besides, it is es-
sential that a map or blue print
of the system be made, for the
protection of both the city and
the consumers.

BARTLETT-VILAS
ROAD ASSURED
As a result of some good work
on the part of the business men
and the citizens of Vilas, the
gravel road leading from Dona-
hoe to Vilas is an assured thing.
At a meeting of the Retail Mer-
chants Association last week a
permanent road committee was
appointed, which met with the1
citizens of the Vjlas neighbor-
hood, who also appointed a road
committee. On Monday the Vi-
las committee, with Wm. Treu-
hardt chairman, met with the
Bartlett committee and reported
that they had rais"ed SHOO by
private subscriptiongillso sixty-
five days work.
Upon this encouraging report
a soliciting committee composed
of A. R. Grosse, J. P. Lawrence
and W. L. Stokes was appointed
to solicit funds here for the con-
struction of the said road, and
within a short time the required
amount was subscribed by our
citizens.
The final steps were taken
yesterday when the Bell County1
Commissioners met both com-
(grade the road and put it in
proper snape tor gravel, when
the citizens were ready, which
will be in the near future.
