A Comparison.
Following is tho aotual count
by tho Katy agontB of tho cotton
received, shipped and on handi
this season, which shows tho stat-
us of Bartlett and all competitive
points. Probably Temple and
Taylor should bo omitted from
tho competitive list: Bartlett;'
12,700; Belton, 4,318; George-
town, 8,780; Grangor, 8.312: Hol-
land, 3,728; Taylor. 10,849; Tom-
pie, 13,000. With tho omissions
above suggested, Bartlett loaves
all actual competitors badly. Tho
reason is obvious: Evory season
Bartlett has constantly on tho
streets eight or ton active cotton
buyers, who are actual compotitr
ors. They bid against each oth-
er straight out, and no ginner,
merchant or other person ever of-
fers any catch penny, clap trap
inducements. The cold ca&h and
more of it is given by Bartlett
buyers than 'by competitors, and
Bartlett merchants give more and
better goods for the sams amount
of cold cash than competitors.
These are the reasons why Bart-
lett gets the cotton and sells the
goods. The above figures give
ail the cotton received, shipped
and on hand at the towns named
over all roads where there is any
road except the Katy.

judical district convened the

jury was lmpannelled and are at

tleman are serving as grand jurors

die. G. W. Broadway, Frank Zell
ner, B. J. Baskin.
What The Executive Committee
Did.
Tho state democratic executive
committee fixed Juno 4 as the
dato for countv primaries to elect
delegates to the state dologate
convention, which is to bo hold at
San Antonio Juno 21.
Primarief for state offices are
to bo held July 9, and tho nomi-
nating convention i3 to bo held at
Houston August 2.
Candidatos for tho United
States senate must sybmit their
names to the primaries.
Where a candidate for a state
office fails to get a majority in
any county, the delegated votes
of that county are to be prorated
according to tho votes cast in tho
primary in that county.
District committees are given
authority to apply tho blanket pri-
mary system and decide whether
majority or plurality shall control.
It is recommended that all white
democrats (the including all races
except negroes) bo permitted to
particpato in the primaries if they
will give a pledge to vote for the
nominees of the democracy, from
constable to presidential electiors.
Counties failing to observe rules
and dates to have no representa-
tion in the temporaoy "organiza-
tion of tho conventions, and reo-
commend that they be given no
representation after permanent
organization.
Changing Rural Routes.
Granger, Tex., April 18. Spe-
cial Rural Route Agent Dolan
has been here the past few days
changing the route east and south
east of town and putting in a fourth
route so as to serve a section north
east of town, which has been cut
off without a route. These four
routes will in a very satisfactory
way give service to this entire section.
NOTICE.
At the last meeting of the
stockholders of the Baitlctt High
School building there was a reso-
lution passed instructing the trus-
tees to sell building and ground.
As no bid or propesition was:
made, and as the free school dis-
trict was changed to a citjrschodl
and confined to the city limits, the.
board of trustees at the last meet?
ing advertised for bids to April
25th. They also called a meet-
ing of stockholders for April 26th
to pass on all bids submitted.
It is the earnest desire of the
board of trustees that the'stock.-
holders and citizens of Bartlett
meet at the school house on
April 29th at 7:30 p. m. to discuss
bids and other such matters as
may come before them pertaining
to the educational interests of thtf
city. The change in time from
tint given in notice is made in
order that every one may have
a better opportunity to attend.
