OTHER NEWS OF THE COURTS
In Judge Mitchell's court yesterday
afternoon the case of the state against
Mrs. Jolm Kuneinan was continued
until today. The defendant is charged
with asuiult and -a breach of the
peace.
Mrs. Kuneman is accused of going
to the Central school and making a
personal attack on the principal, Miss
Mamie Sexton, besides creating a
great disturbance in the school.
It is stated that Mrs. Kuneman was
very much dissatisfied because her
daughter. May. who is a pupil at the
Central school, had not been ad-
vanced. The young girl is 15 years of
age, ami she failed of promotion at
the January examination. Miss Sex-
ton was the person upon whom the
duty devolved to sign the promotion
cards.
It is alleged that Mrs. Kunemau
appeared at the school and gave Miss
Sexton five minutes In which to sign
the card, threatening to kill ker
leased the prisoner, and in the latter
he fixed the bond to be required at
$300.
Gladney was released on the ground
that the evidence showing that he in-
duced the Mexican to advance him
the money on a $1,000 check did not
constitute swindling, as the said crime
is defined under the statutes.
The particulars of both cases have
been already published.

case she did not. Miss Sexton de-
clined to comply with the request, ex-
plaining that she did not think It
would bo right. Whereupon It is
averred that Mrs. Kuneman bit Miss
Sexton over the head with an um-
brella. A great excitement followed
and other teachers hastened to the
rescue. However, by the prompt ar-
rival of Prof. Putman further trouble
was obviated.
Subsequently It. Is stated that Mrs.
Kuneman met Miss Sexton on the
street and made threatening gestures
and remarks.
Prof. Putman speaks In the highest
firms of Miss Sexton as not only a
very elfielent and capable Instructress
but as one who was conscientious In
the discharge of her duties. He
states that the difficulty would hHve
been adjusted had not Mrs. Kuneman
acted so hastily.
The continuance in the. pending

her husband was out of the city. It
is not probable that the case will
